Our county fairs are all pretty much done now, but I enjoy going, including the Ag stuff (which is supposed to be the whole point, but I’m more attracted to the hobo steak and the sugar waffles).
I'd like to have time to go and watch a few of the events like the horse pull, some animal judging, but there is always a bunch of us when we go. It is a tradition for family to come home and go to the fair together. It's been going on since the 80's when my mother owned the house. I keep saying I'm going to go by myself some Sunday and spend a few hours sitting in the grand stand but I have never done it. When I was a teenager/young adult it was just a party with pre drinking in a nearby park then all sneaking in after dark. lol

The big events when I was a kid were the horse pull, tractor pull, and the demolition derby. That was always Saturday night, and the biggest crowd draw of the fair.

The derby is tonight. Last night was a truck pull. I’ve never attended. The sound is so loud it feels like somebody is running a chainsaw wide open outside my window at 10:30 pm.

TastyReuben we've got ya beat here in Cowboyville!
Our local Costco had the Christmas décor & gifts out weeks ago!!!!
I think they did here as well, but I haven’t been at Sam’s in awhile. They usually get it out in early August…to which I tell them, “You know…we do have ‘Christmas in July…’”
:whistling:

Spent Sunday in Venice.. (yes I came back to Italy for some time)
I adored Venice when I went there. Twice - once as a student in 1974, and the second time, with my new wife in 1982. we stayed in a small hotel about 100 yds from the the Plaza, down a back alley. Wonderful. Went to Harry's Bar and had mimosas and the original carpaccio. Only ate in trattorias where we could see loads of the locals eating; and usually said "we'll have what they ordered". Drank Pinot Grigio for lunch and dinner.
