I think food processors are great for many purposes but slicing and shredding aren't included in that. The chef knife was invented for that.
My Cuisinart came with a slicing disk & a shredding disk.

Here's a demo on my Cuisinart machine!!The woman in the vid even shows how to chop fish for patties & beef for burgers. She practically made a whole meal, including banana ice cream for the kids!!!!

I tried this with my machine & was able to get MY hand down into the bowl as well!!! I was even able to touch the blade!! But there's no way that I can do that with the machine on. The food pusher has a metal prong that activates the safety switch which turns the machine on. So the pusher has to be in the chute for the machine to work & spin the blade.

The Cuisinart is excellent, although high on the price range. I need one right now because mine has given up the ghost.

Oster blenders are standard in Venezuela. I mean, almost everyone has one. There's even a verb to describe blending something to its liquid form. " Osterizar"
