Your Top List of Fave Dishes & Desserts!

I can post a "savoury bread pudding" recipe (called a pudding but actually a starter covered in onion gravy):
  • 1 loaf bread (preferably past it's sell-by-date)
  • milk
  • suet, to the equivalent of 1/3 the quantity of the loaf
  • chopped onion, to the equivalent quantity of the loaf
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • salt and pepper
Break up the bread and soak in milk for 1 hour. Squeeze the bread with your hands or in a sieve to remove the majority of the milk. Discard the milk.
Add the remaining ingredients to the bread and mix well.
Place the mixture in a greased tin or oven-proof dish to a thickness of 30 to 35 mm. Bake in a preheated oven (200 degC) for around 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until the pudding is a brown colour.
Serve hot with lashings of onion gravy.

We have strayed into that bizarre English thing called pudding.

You know, from a people with such a rich history and a language with is arguably the most beautifully complex in the world, can't you f'in' decide how to define the word pudding?

I only call it what my mum and her mum (and probably even her mum) called it.

You mentioned 3 in succession, but that's neither here nor there.

Which pudding style, type, recipe, animal/vegetable/ or mineral?

I'll leave that up to you - the ingredients and method of serving are there.

So....top list of fave dishes and desserts? Anyone else? It can be starters instead of desserts.

We are all very clear, we do it to confuse you overseas types.

.... and anyway, you lot can talk, you call a scone a biscuit and pour a cream sauce over it, which you call gravy. Wrong, just wrong

Lol, yes, that is a weird Southern thing.

Have you tried it? It's very comforting.
Southerners are not weird. It's just Yankees don't understand us.

Will answer your gravy comment in the other thread.
