That’s a lot, sounds really good!

NYD is something of a forgotten sibling around here, after the extroverts that are Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

I know I’m making pork and sauerkraut in some form, there will be mashed potatoes, maybe some kind of leafy salad, and beer.

Christmas pud that was never cracked open from Christmas (two Christmases running now) for dessert.

NYE: Just snacks. I'll probably make some Little Smokies and Crescent Roll sausage rolls. Maybe some chips and queso. Maybe a glass of Prosecco at midnight.

NYD: Thick bone-in pork chop, marinated in a spicy marinade, sous vide and seared. Garlic mashed potatoes. Sauerkraut (with apples?).

I know that New Year's Eve will be Italian. Thankfully, I'm not cooking, so it'll be nice to enjoy the food instead of worrying whether it's seasoned enough or presented correctly
New Year's Day will be what ever occurs to me when I open the fridge!

Our new year's day brekkie will be pikelets, strawberries, raspberries and any other fruit we fancy with maple syrup served with a black coffee at a nature reserve 2hrs away whilst watching platypus swim.

I'm unsure on lunch at this time. It may be vegan sushi & nori or i might take the vegan "burgers" and use one of the electric BBQs that are free at the reserve to cook them on. We'll see how the day plays out.

Not sure what breakfast will be on either day. I have a piece of ham steak, breakfast sausages, bacon, Pillsbury crescent rolls, Grands biscuits, potatoes (for home fries), onions, and eggs available. I also have pancake/waffle mix. We'll decide on the day.

Okay, turns out I had a 7-pound bone-in pork butt in the freezer. It is thawing out now. That will be going on the new pellet smoker on Monday for a low-and-slow cook. I'm still planning on sauerkraut, with diced apples in it, and mashed potatoes.

My breakfast will probably be leftover Little Smokies roll-ups with eggs. Then, I won't eat anything until dinner, when the pork butt is done.

That's pretty much how I've done NYD for many years.

The bulk of NYD is usually spent on some household project. This year, I need to sort things out to go to the storage unit I plan to rent starting next week. The Storage unit will allow me to organize my house, and stage "stuff" to be sold, donated or discarded. I need to separate what I want to keep from what I want to get rid of, into two very distinct places. That's just how my brain works.

I can't find Little Smokies around here anymore. :( I used to like making cheesy piggie blankets with them.

The shops were well picked over when I got around to cheese shopping, so I had to sub in something I don’t normally use, so this was really mild compared to the funkiness we’re used to - still good, but not 100%.

The cut-up sausage bits were from an Ohio meat company, Streb Meats, and were smoked patties, like kielbasa in hamburger size. Very good.

Savoie white wine (in the fondue and to drink) and a shot of kirsch to start things rolling.
