• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

Alphabetic town and related food game

OK
H is for Hoi An in vietnam.
I did a 1 day cooking course and even made my own rice noodles :)
It was a fun crowd alltogether and good food.
We had hot pot at another spot, I had never had it before and the staff was more than happy to explain. Lot of fresh sea food and veges.

G is in play...

Gois in Portugal. Nice little town. Very hilly area
Went to dinner there in a very small restaurant. 3 menu choices on the blackboard. Only one available, so an easy choice. Great food.
There was 1 Portuguese family in the restaurant plus the 2 of us.
The owner was serving and walking around with a bottle of cava, serving shots to everyone and himself
His mum was in the kitchen.
We had a good laugh. A couple of shots helped improve our Portuguese and his English.
Desert was a chunk of flan out of a big ancient looking vessel
Bill was calculated on the paper table cloth.
So much more fun than going to pizza inn or mcdonalds (the 2 other options in town)
I’ve been there! (Gois) When I was 12. Never heard it mentioned since. I drank a bottle of Tabasco; a lot of wine. Food was hand picked veg cooked on a barbecue.

I’ve been to so many city with H.
Start with UK
Hull - we were living nearby this area so we drove to this place for seafood, oysters and such.
Harrogate - a spa town, my daughter spent more than a year here, best place I remember is Betty’s. I think this is a chain.
Halifax - we stayed at a hotel near here and drove to this place because it was nearby, lots of places to eat here. People were very friendly when they heard my American accent, they shared stories of their visits to America.

H for cities in USA
Huntington Beach - my husband lived at this location initially when he first moved to USA, lots of restaurants here. But the best with a view is Duke’s.
Honolulu - so many restaurants here too, but my favorite place is also Duke’s
Huntsville, Alabama - lots of restaurants here too, but the only thing stood out in my mind, was a Korean place and PF Chang’s. There are a lot of Korean car factories here. However, I wasn’t too impressed with the local BBQ, the food seemed dry to me compared to what I normally cook.

H in Hawaii
Honolulu - you name it, you can find it!
First thought - POKE!!!

This just a small sampling of the different kinds of Poke in Hawaii, and not all are raw by the way.
