Alphabetic town and related food game

H is for Hollingbourne, in Kent.
Went there with my bro and brother-in-law, and we ate some delicious fish.
Unfortunately, the pub ( called the Dirty Habit) burned to the ground a few months later. Such a shame, because it was a mediaeval building on the edge of the Pilgrim's Way - the road from London to Canterbury.
 
For UK, I for
Inverness - lots of great restaurants here but the despite the gloomy weather. We stayed here for a week, we had great food at a pub, and at a nice French restaurant.
Ilkley - my husband’s college friends live here, he took us to a pub that was very good. It’s also a spa town.

I'd like to add that the Costco in Iwilei, Oahu, Hawaii is the most cash productive location in the entire United States!!!
 
I racked my brain for J, not easy, I found 2

Jean - border town to California, I think one of the first few casinos you see coming from California. Probably good cowboy food, but we only bought some dried fruit and candies there.

Julian - a town to go for picking apples, lots of pies here.

Jean is right about 16 miles from Cali and the little store, there's only one, unless you count the gas station, has some of the best jerky!

Yes, I remember they sold a lot of dry stuff. I haven’t been to Las Vegas for maybe years now.
 
UK with K
Keswick, North of the Lake District, my husband and his best friend used to hike the peaks of the Lake District frequently when they were singles.
I love the food here where I can get pork pies for a few pounds. It was very hard to control ourselves. Lots of baked goods here, fish and chips, and Thai food. This place is just beautiful. Love the rhododendrons there. Definitely a place to come back. You can eat well without breaking the bank here.

USA for K
Kauai - we picked this place because at the time it’s considered a beautiful place, we stayed at Poipu Beach for our honeymoon, first time I saw some geckos hanging from the ceiling. We rented a jeep(my husband’s idea), great fish dishes. But frankly, it’s not for us, a bit more rainy then to our liking, don’t forget we’re from California, we like sun and more sun.
So that’s first time and also last time, we never came back to this island, despite the fact that we go to Hawaii frequently, at least once a year in the last 10 years.
 
I forgot a few cities with K from the Hawaiian islands

K for Kalua-Kona from the Big Island island , great fish and chips, near Captain Cooks place, I think he was killed near here, great for snorkeling, but beware of the sea urchins, I got my right hand stuck in one by accident. Painful to say the least. After that my husband didn’t like going back to the Big Island anymore, he said because of the volcanic activities, the air didn’t smell good, the water didn’t taste good.

K for Kihue in Maui, we spent many years in some of the hotels near this place, almost was going to buy a house on our first trip, lots of restaurants. The best place near Kihei is the Grand Wailea hotel(when it was first built, degraded after a few years), breakfast with fantastic views, the spa here is outstanding, the only problem is a bit expensive, hence we never stayed there.

K for Kaanapali in Maui, on subsequent years when the kids were no longer small, when all 4 of us could stay in a hotel room, we always rented at a VRBO at Honua Kai resort, north of Kaanapali, but we go to Kaanapali for food.
The whole island, memorable restaurant is Mama’s fish house, excellent food and pricey. But after the recent fire we decided both the VRBO is expensive and so is Mama’s fish house, so we’re not going back.
We no longer think throwing money away is a good idea, but it has been our favorite place for many years.

L&L - local-style "plate lunch"
Yoonyson Korean BBQ - uhhh, Korean takeout, (love their pick your own banchan)
Ba-Le Sandwich Shop - Bahn Mi - AH YUM!!
of course, there's a Zippy's there too - sit down/table service restaurant & takeout
And believe it or not, a supermarket, Foodland - best Poke on the island!
 
Last year my kids took us to a supermarket, maybe Foodland, where got to sample all kind of Poke.
I buy food from Foodland too. I did stay in Hawaii for a month back in 2018, on the way to Tahiti.
