I wouldn't say I am on the fence, I have vegan days and I lived with a vegan flat mate too, but I find some vegans can be too radical and make themselves anti-social of people don't cater to their whims. Not all vegans, but there is a stereotype and some people are perceived that way. I don't care how people see me, but if I lost a job because someone thought my being vegan would make it difficult to be in my position, to have dinners with clients then it's something to consider.
I care about what I put in my body and vegans can look at vegetarians dismissively, I like being able to eat out with friends and at social gatherings be able to eat things. Vegans are still catered for, but often meat eaters don't know that food was for vegans and eat them as I found at a work do, people ate all the hummus sandwiches because they liked them and you can't tell them not to, even if it was the only thing you could have eaten.
I don't need to be labelled anything, I can be vegan one day and vegetarian another.
