Back in Oz, I used to buy 7/11 Jumbo Sausage Rolls and they were brilliant, taste with a savory tang to them. Proble is, 7/11 can't export them to the US despite having 7/11 stores here. Therefore, I was hoping someon might be able to give me a recipe for gebuine Ozzie Sausage Rolls as well as good old fshioned Aussie Curry Pies - something else I have never made :(

Wish I could help. I doubt anyone here can offer advice on making the specific Ozzie pie or sausage roll since we currently only have one regular Australian based contributing member and she is vegan!

The problem with replicating the particular sausage rolls from 7/11 is finding the same type of sausage meat and knowing which seasonings to use.

The curry pie may be easier as there are various recipes out there. Some simply add a ubiquitous curry paste or curry powder to slow cooked beef.

Having tried to look up ingredients of 7- 11 sausage rolls I did find some information. It seems they are made with minced beef and contain carrot. This is very different from a UK sausage roll which is usually pork mince.

They also contain breadcrumbs and yeast extract. In fact they only contain 21% meat.

Thanks all and evidently I need to imprtove my "googling skills" - I couldn't find anything about 7/11 sausage rolls so thanks Morning Glory, what you found is a good start I think :bravo:

I did find this:

Not my fingernail obviously! But this was the only list of ingredients on the internet I could find for those sausage rolls.

Oops sorry - the downside of being new and not really knowing anyone - :(

I might give one a try using what you have posted and see what happens. The vegemite would certainly give the roll a "tang" and add flavor. To be honest, I just assumed sausage rolls were made (predominantly) from pork sausage but minced beef is a lot easier to come by here I think - other than going with something like Jimmy Dean sausage meat, or similar.

Well it was just that it was a photo of the ingredients of an actual 7- eleven sausage roll and as I'm not in Australia it couldn't have been me holding it!

Its interesting you assumed it was pork. I reckon that means that quite a lot of breadcrumbs are added.

Trying to get genuine, or even authentic. Australian food here is pretty hard and/or expensive. Aside from me missing certain things, like sausage rolls, real pies, dim sims, real hamburgers and fish and chips etc I get a lot of questions asking what Aussie food is like and if it is different to American food.

I know there are a few "business' " here that claim to sell genuine Aussie food like pies pasties etc but to be honest, I am a little sceptical if the business' arent owned by actual Austrlians.

Anyway, onwards and upwards - looks as though I am going to have to enlarge your actual 7/11 picture and see what the ingredients are then off to Wegmans (food store) for minced beef (hamburger) :D
