Ingredients
  • About 200 gms plain flour
  • ¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • About 200 ml beer
Method

Sieve the flour into a bowl and add the bicarb and salt.

Using a whisk or electric mixer, stir the mixture whilst slowly adding the beer until a consistency of porridge is attained. Drink any remaining beer.

Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Use the batter to coat fish, fishcakes, prawns, Mars bars or whatever, for deep frying.
