Recipe Candied spiced pistachios

Recipe can be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled as desired.

Ingredients

1/2 cup shelled pistachios
1-1/2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp honey
tiny pinch of salt
1/8 -1/4 tsp hot chile pepper flakes (Carolina Reaper, Scorpion or Ghost) or powder (optional and to your heat tolerance)

Combine sugar, honey and salt in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until sugar dissolves. Add pistachios and stir for 2-3 minutes until you can smell the pistachios. Stir in the spice if using. Quickly pour mixture out onto a parchment paper lined baking dish, then spread out into a single layer of nuts with your cooking utensil. Let sit until mixture cools and hardens, then break up into pieces.
