Ingredients
- 400 gms Pork ribs, trimmed.
- 6 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 tsp pureed ginger
- 1 tblsp tomato puree
- 3 tblsp Hoisin sauce
- 1 tblsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tblsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 2 tblsp olive oil
- 2 tblsp honey
Place the ribs in a dish
Mix the garlic, ginger, tomato puree, Hoisin sauce, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, 5 spice powder and olive oil to a smooth paste and pour over the ribs. Mix thoroughly ensuring all the ribs are coated. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Heat the oven to 180°C. Transfer the ribs and a little of the marinade to an ovenproof dish, and brush both sides with the honey.
Cover with aluminium foil and place on the middle rack of the oven.
Cook for about 1½ hours, basting the ribs around every 30 minutes.
Increase the oven temperature to 200°C and remove the foil. Baste frequently and cook for a further 30 minutes or until crisp.
Remove the ribs from the dish and allow to stand for 10 minutes.
