Apparently butter is a hot commodity here in Ontario - there have been 9 separate thefts of over $1000 worth of butter in the past year.

Police suspect links to organized crime, and apparently there’s a black market for butter.

Wasn’t there a huge maple syrup theft there 10 or 15 years ago…millions and millions of dollars of syrup stolen? I seem to remember that. I think MrsT was a person of interest at the time…

Their modus operandi is to hold up the butter lorries, smack the driver over the head, then take all the merchandise.
Classic assault and buttery.

I went to Neal's Yard a couple of years ago and I have to say I was really, really impressed. If you ever want to try the very best, most exquisite, nutty Cheddar cheese in the world, then Neal's Yard is the place to go. The only setback is that most of the cheeses cost £40 ($52) a kilo, or more...much more. They're all artisan cheeses, however, and extraordinarily good quality.

seriously? anybody can pull up, claim whatever, and with no prior business relationship just drive off with tons of cheese?

I think we're all sometimes taken aback by thieves. The lengths they will go to sometimes beggars belief!

I have absolutely no knowledge of this maple syrup heist, and I definitely do not have several million dollars worth of syrup stashed in my basement right now.
