Christmas Eve meals

When do they have the big dinner on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Ah yes you’re right and make a good point they do the most food wedging late at night on the 24th.
Christmas in Spain goes on for weeks. I kid you not it was the feast of the immaculate conception on the 8th December and doesn’t let up until the day of the three kings on the 6th January. All marked with fireworks at midnight and oh lucky us they have a cannon they like to fire a lot too 😂

Normally we go into work on Christmas eve, no work gets done but we have a bit of a party where everyone brings in some food and the business lays on booze. The freshly cooked samosas are superb. We are careful not to eat too much and are normally home by 11am when we close the front door, it is locked and our christmas officially begins.. Lunch on Christmas eve is always my leek and potato soup finished with some decent cheese. The evening meal is usually something light, a caesar salad with hot smoked fish or smoked duck breast. This year though we are having crab raviolo served in a lobster bisque and finished with extra crab meat. This year it is about minimal work in the kitchen.

We usually have some fun, festive, finger foods, like little cocktail meatballs, cocktail sausages, etc - the more retro the better.

We have those with some bubbly while opening our stocking gifts.
