CookingBites recipe challenge: Mushrooms

Has anyone cooked with morels? I bought some dried. Very expensive but they are a gourmet treat and keep forever.
We've used fresh and dried. Both were good. It's been a long time, ordered them from a place in Oregon. I'd have to search on here and the other forum I visit to see what we used them for. I do have a chicken dish that uses dried in my online cookbook. IIRC, you have to soak fresh ones in salted water due to little critters that might be hiding in them, so check on that.

Well, one of the things we used morels for was a Morel, fiddlehead fern, ramps, and asparagus pizza.

I stuffed the rest of the morels with a crab stuffing, sauteed in butter, then baked a bit.

I use to go foraging with my boy friend in high school, for Wood Ears, YUM! In Hawaiian : pepeiao - it means ear in the Hawaiian language.

My mother used canned slice mushrooms exclusively - :speechless:- once I started cooking, I NEVER used them, ever!!!

I tried Mushroom Powder a few years back and we did not care that.

Sorry, my post that was deleted was a joke. It was top of the list because it was the only recipe submitted. I guess the 😉 wasn't good enough, my bad.
That was also partly my fault detroitdad - I saw the post and thought you may have lost the plot and so posted a very surprised reply to you which was also deleted - all sorted out now - at least we know !
A big internet mix up!
😅😅😅

Never mind. S**t happens
Here's my first entry: Kashmiri Mushrooms
I've been cooking all week long, and when I saw this challenge, I thought "nah, mushrooms are expensive, not many varieties, etc" . Then I said to myself, hey, we all love mushrooms here, so why not? :D
This recipe probably developed as a "finger food" appetizer: whole mushrooms, toothpicks, a mouthful of delight. Today it was dinner and it's still a delight.

The purple amethyst deceiver in the UK is wonderful in autumn. It's one that is easy to positively identify and we used to eat them all the time when we lived on the edge of deciduous woodland. It particularly liked the areas around our oak trees.

I haven't picked up the courage to footage mushrooms in Australia. There's already enough trying to kill you here without giving the country assistance!

Best mushroom dish was when we (wife and I) found some fresh Giant Puffballs and we sliced them and fried them with garlic and rosemary and served in a burger bun. A delicious dish... 😋 Not found any puffballs around the new property 😥

I used to forage those years ago. They are really delicious.
