My new Electric Rice Cooker is working like a champ!
I'm getting perfectly cooked Rice every time.
I just love the smell of White Rice cooking!

I mostly use Jasmine now. I quit buying the cheapo long grain white rice that's a Southern thing. In 'Vegas I had a 5 gallon food storage bucket with 20 lbs. of Jasmine in it all the time. No longer in the land of the Intl market I buy 5 lbs. at a time.

I typically use brown rice, brown basmati, brown jasmine and brown medium grain. Sometimes black or red rice as well. Depending on the recipe and how much water we have in storage, depends on whether i wash the rice first. But usually i do not wash it first.

I also cook it the same way as pasta, so I've never really seen the need.

Do you rinse your rice?
Yes, no, and sometimes 😅

Depends what dish I'm using it for.
I generally give rice a quick pre rinse if steaming - I steam, never boil, so never rinse after cooking as I like the grains to be separate, especially basmati and similar. I generally use long grain brown rice or basmati for everyday no frills plain steamed.

Exception to that is sushi where I like the rice to be a little sticky for shaping and don't rinse.

I don't pre rinse rice if it's going to be fried first etc before liquid is added - pilaus, risotti and so on.

For fried rice, I usually use steamed rice next day as it's usually a leftovers dish for us, but have no problem same day as long as the rice is just past al dente, steamed to almost dry, and not starchy. But next day is better 😁
