Exercise thread

My daughter did finish one marathon but she was extremely tired, that and the heat of Florida was enough to make her vow never again.
Anyway, my husband said he read somewhere that longer walk is good, he does a long walk every Sunday for maybe 1.5 to 2 hours.
This is what I’m trying to work up to. I think when I first retired I did walk with him frequently, but honestly I love swimming, it seems like I fly effortlessly when I swim.
 
Back before the pandemic, I used to bike to work every day for about 12 years, regardless of the weather. I loved it, and I was in such good shape - one year I randomly decided to head off on a 160 km ride, and did it with no training at all - I was already fit enough that it was no problem (I was good at riding for long distances but always pretty slow).

Then the pandemic hit, and I changed jobs, and I no longer ride to work. So now walking is my main form of exercise. When I have to go in to the office, I walk to and from the train station (about 20 min each way), and on the way home, it’s a pretty decent uphill. My husband and I also try to go for a walk around the neighbourhood every day (our regular route is about 4 km).

I also horseback ride once a week and weightlift once a week.

I noticed the past few days when I was sick and wasn’t walking - it was taking me a lot longer to fall asleep and I was waking up at night more. Yesterday, we went out for our usual walk, and I slept great. I find exercise during the day is the best predictor of how I’ll sleep at night - I basically need to treat myself like a high-energy breed of dog. Tire me out so I’ll sleep!
 
Absolutely, exercise is the best thing to do to help with sleep. My husband and I dance to just 4 songs every night, free moves and he and I sleep like a baby. I also do a bit of dancing when I go shopping, especially to Christmas music, haha.
Basically I take every opportunity to exercise, the only problem is I forget to do it often.
 
Tonight, no walking because it’s wet out there. So my husband and I did some dancing, about 20 minutes of fast moving, it was enough that it made us very warm.
 
So in my usual style... do nothing for weeks and then overdo it... (now I'm back out of the wheelchair for 4 years!).

And today, was a wtf day where my body just said, um look girl you're not that young anymore, it's 28°C outside and you've just covered way too much ground, too quickly and, well, I'm telling you that's enough... one way trip... my oh had to fetch the car.

My doctor didn't mind I didn't manage it both ways, she's happy that I can get out again and stretch my legs.
 
Change of plan today for my exercise, frankly I don’t like to go outside, so I’m planning to walk and dance indoors continuously for 30 minutes. I will post if it’s actually get done.
