I put grated hard Italian cheese on/in fish dishes.

...and why not? If you like it.
Here's a little (true) story. I had a close friend come to visit a few years ago, and he invited us to eat at our favourite Italian restaurant. My wife ordered a pasta with shrimp; he ordered tournedos rossini.
She asked the waiter for some parmesan, and the waiter threw a hissy fit "No, no,no,no, no cheese with fish!!"
She got her cheese, and then my friend turned to him and said : " ...and you can put some on here, too"

Pineapple and banana pancakes are pretty much amazing. I made a tangerine syrup once to go with them and also topped it with toasted crushed pistachios.

In my kitchen you can mix any foods / flavours even if only experimenting, but there is one golden rule. Never, ever cook bananas!

I can only eat banana raw and when the skin is yellow. If the skin has gone all speckled, or the banana is cooked the flavour changes too much.
So for me cooking a banana makes the banana / the food inedible

Never heard of it, just did a quick google and (for me) it sounds like a crime against good ingredients

I pretty much only eat bananas like they are and that's mostly a habit developed in the desert to keep from getting muscle cramps. They go bad so fast too!

Well, if you ever get a chance to try Goreng Pisang (fried banana fritters) you might change your mind... they're amazing. I think I'm gonna go get some tomorrow!

And those are easy to make at home, but if they are a common menu item and not expensive I get the appeal of ordering out. They are a dessert item at a few Asian restaurants around here.

My famly loves banana bread! I make one with a peanut butter cream cheese filling that's in high demand with our kids, nephew, and younger cousins. I don't really have much of a sweet tooth so I will only eat it occasionally.

I do like banana pancakes, and pineapple-banana pancakes are quite tasty as well.

And I figure/hope Windigo will pipe in:
There are a number of Dutch dishes that have been changed by people coming in from the former Dutch Indies
Like hachee, there is a Dutch & Indo version.
I put kecap & sambal in my erwtensoep (Dutch pea soup), sambal in the hutspot (carrot-potato mash) and so on

I'm cringing here! You guys are just trying to traumatise me now with talk of cooked bananas, so mean!
I'm willing to give anything a try, but a lifetimes experience would make me expect to dislike anything cooked containing banana

I probably shouldn’t mention the warm dessert sauce I make using sliced banana (cooked until they just barely can hold their shape), brown sugar, and stout.
