Ginger & Bourbon Toddy
Makes enough ginger tea for 6-8 drinks; recipe is for 1 drink
Ingredients
For the ginger tea:
2 oz (60 grams) fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
2 cups water
For the cocktail:
1 1/2 oz honey bourbon*
1 dash bitters
1 lemon peel (for garnish)
Directions
For the ginger tea:
In a small saucepan, heat two cups of water to boiling. Add the ginger slices, lower the heat to simmering, and simmer for ten minutes.
Strain the ginger tea through a coffee filter or cheesecloth-lined strainer into a 2-cup measure.
To assemble the cocktail:
For each drink, add 2 ounces of ginger tea, 1 1/2 ounces honey bourbon, and a dash of bitters to a heat-proof glass. Stir to combine and garnish with a lemon peel.
* Substitute 1 ounce of regular bourbon and 1/2 ounce of honey if you prefer.
