The ultimate in Asian comfort food...but also happens to be delicious in my opinion. Eaten any time of day, especially breakfast, and something you might serve someone you love if they were feeling a bit under the weather.
1 cup jasmine rice
2 chicken marylands
1 knob ginger
It's that time of year for using pumpkins. Sorry to say I do not have any notations on where I received this recipe, but I am going to ask DH to make these soon.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 TB. baking powder
1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel...
My daughter bought sushi from Kroger (which always serves up good sushi) a few days ago, and - as she always does when I'm not quick enough to stop her - threw away the pickled ginger. I love pickled ginger, so I had a little chat with her about it. She won't throw away the pickled ginger again...
I decided to pickle some ginger last weekend. I was unpacking groceries as they sat in a jar on the counter, and I started thinking about them together with the apples I had just bought. When I think of ginger, I think Asian food, so what followed just came naturally. I wanted to create a swirl...
This is from the book Green Word Cookbook by Rachel Demuth as part of the Cookbook Challenge no 5.
The recipe is straight forward enough, though my ability to obtain Onion Squash was a challenge but I did have something that looked the same as the picture, I just don't think that it was an...
Makes about 3-1/2 cups
Note: this is excellent served with pork chops and tastes best if prepared in a skillet immediately after frying the chops.

1 small onion, chopped medium
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch...
This was dinner the other night, forgot to post.

Rotini Salad with Oriental Vegetable Sauce
12 oz. Rotini
A recipe partly inspired by Persian dishes which use rosewater paired with saffron in sweet dishes but also by 'The First American Cookbook’ written in 1796, which uses rosewater in many savoury dishes. Less is more here so you need to measure the rosewater and saffron carefully for a delicate...
This tea isn’t only delicious: it could save your life. Saffron is a powerful antioxidant, and can help protect your body from a variety of ailments. Ginger, too, has been shown to provide tremendous health benefits.
So, brew some of this tea, and thank me later.
This was based on a Taste of Home magazine recipe, but I added/increased some ingredients, plus the original recipe was for a slow-cooker and we don't do that so I modified. As I wrote in the dinner thread, I didn't get a picture because I was on phone with our DD when Craig brought me a bowl...
Makes 2 servings
I divided ours up differently than instructions because Craig eats more than I do, so it was like a 60/40 division instead of 50/50. Next time, I would also probably add 1 to 1-/2 tsp, maybe even 2 of finely chopped garlic (not microplaned though). I might even replace the...
Pickled ginger is a necessity when it comes to sushi, but it can also be used any time there’s a need to accent your food.
2 ounces ginger root
1/3 cup rice vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp soy sauce
1. Peel ginger root using a teaspoon to get around all the nooks and...
I used just two duck legs here but to be honest you could use four as there is more than enough sauce produced by the vegetables and fruit. If you use four duck legs then double up on the marinade ingredients.
Serve this with new potatoes or mashed potatoes to mop up the sauce.
Audrey Ellis, Hamlyn all Colour Cookbook, 1970-1977
The recipe uses old imperial measures, I simply switched my scales to lb and oz. for authenticity. Obviously, you can convert to metric if you wish.
4 oz Margarine
6 oz black treacle
2 oz golden syrup
¼ pint milk
8 oz plain flour
Treacle tart is a classic British tart - the filling is so sweet that the pastry really needs to be plain. Its delicious served with ice-cream or cream. Here I've added preserved ginger for an extra kick. I used a 9 and half inch shallow flan dish (slightly less than 1 inch depth)...
