That machine now is around $700 and was around $300 in the early '90's when it was purchased.

My plot is 18' x 33' at present and it produces to where I either have to preserve it or give it away.

Actually that isn't too bad then - an increase of $400 over a 30 + year period ... still expensive though

But I might be able to rent it out.
Got to do the maths.

Can you rent one, I think in USA you can rent tools from Home Depot.

Don’t know about the USA, but I’ll confirm that here in Canada you can indeed rent them from Home Depot or any other hardware store. I’ve done it before.

Hence I own one.

After one more season it will have paid for itself. I'm at a point where I'm only buying produce I didn't grow and that list gets smaller every year.

I had to rent up until several years ago. Cashed everything in and now have space but no cash

All good though, everything is paid for.

I gave away all of my stuff, my husband and I did the hardscape here, I like DIY. But it’s dangerous to own a chainsaw, I could technically end up without a finger or something, so yay, better to give away.

Chainsaws can be dangerous. We need them here when trees fall in the way but they're never operated without two people present and the cell phone signal is checked. Operators take the mfg.'s training and an OSHA course.

I even operated a small cement saw, I had to cut the cement pavers, i had to be super careful.

Even if we could rent them, it would be a 4 hour drive to get there (and that's one way)....
So hypothetically 4 hours drive to get to my plot, 4 hours use, 4 hours to get back (not taking into account sleeping, eating, resting & speeding fines)
That's 270 U$...
