Ingredients
4 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 c heavy whipping cream
11 oz bottle of Guinness draught
1/2 c onion
2 c shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp dry mustard
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper
Directions Step-By-Step
1: In a medium sauce pan, melt butter.
2: Add flour to melted butter and cook for five minutes, stirring constantly.
3: Whisk in heavy cream and then whisk in beer.
4: Add onion, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Whisk together.
5: Slowly add in cheese about a half cup at a time, whisking together each time.
6: Add in bay leaf and let thicken over very low heat.
7: Serve with large pretzels. Or if you are feeling adventurous, you could make your own pretzels.
