Haslet

I did try it once, and was not impressed. It is something I would probably like now, especially if I cooked it myself. From what I remember, it's not unlike faggot, but not so course, and cooked in loaf format.

Would Merican meatloaf be similar?

I have no idea. My findings to date are "stale" bread, milk, finely minced pork, onion and sage.

I love it and its very cheap. Its not much like faggot. Its basically pork and seasonings (herbs and spices) cooked like meatloaf and served cold in slices. At least, I've always eaten it cold.

Maybe its making a high end comeback: Marcus Wareing has it on his menu at The Gilbert Scott.

Mmmmmm. Could I be famous at last?

We always ate it cold, generally in sandwiches. I'm not sure what else was added (if anything) except for a little salt and pepper.

I'm having a go at it today.

Dry bread soaked in milk; finely minced pork; egg; onion; garlic; sage; salt; pepper.

Never heard of it. Nothing even close here? I'm interested in pics?

Russ

Well, here's the bread soaking (the milk is squeezed out before mixing with the other ingredients).

There's a mix of French bread stick and brown bread there.

It is obviously some kind of "meat loaf." It is nothing like MY meatloaf.

BTW, is faggot a real food, or are you just playing with the Murcans here.
