Homemade Beer

I was watching a homesteading show last night and they were making homemade Beer in a key. It seemed really easy to make. All they did was grind up some wheat berries and hops and added them to the water. Has anyone on here made their own beer before?

i haven't made it but I think those beer making kits they sell in the store are neat. I might try my hand at it sometime. I think I would get a kick out of it, not that the beer would necessarily be better. I drink more wine than I do beer, so that would be something I would likely try first.
