I reckon theres a divided by a common language thing going on here because in the UK there’s little difference between a casserole and a stew (technically a stew is done on the hob and a casserole in the oven) and the words are often used interchangeably.I suppose it could if you wanted it to, but it’s used a lot in soups and stews. I’m guess medtran49 ’s dish will be sort of the consistency of a gratin.
