How is the corona virus affecting you?

I work for the University of Michigan Hospitals as a Public Safety Officer. For the last year I have been on our community outreach team. That team has been disbanded for the time being. I'm be posted back at the hospital. I was working 6-4 M-TH. Now I'm going to M-F 6-2 with 10 to 20 hours of OT added in per week (mandatory OT).

Michigan just announced that all restaurants/bars are closing for the foreseeable future except for curbside service/deliveries.

I have canceled all poker games at my house. My wife has an Auto Immune Disorder. I want to limit the number of people coming into our place.

I'm not sure that having an auto immune disease is likely to mean someone is more susceptible to complications from the virus. I have an auto immune thyroid condition but it doesn't mean my whole immune system is lacking. Rheumatism & psoriasis are both auto immune conditions but don't mean that somone is at risk from this virus. However, you are no doubt sensible to not invite lots of people round in any case.

I hope your job relocation isn't too stressful. Being at the hospital puts you in the front line.

It does mean they are at risk when they are taking immuno suppresants or biologics or steroids. Or when their condition is lung or heart related or if it's diabetes.

I have multiple auto immune disorders but need no meds currently so that's indeed not putting me at risk, and mine are not related to heart or lungs. The recent lung damage does put me at risk.

Does this clarify it a little?

Thank you. That does clarify it. As you say it depends on the type of disorder and the medications. I don't think I'm in the risk category although I have had long standing heart issues related to the thyroid, so maybe I am. I'm also verging on being officially 'old'!

Old is myth, I still make love as did when 20!! (As Ray say I kill him one day!! Donne italiane 💖💖) And still lust for life.
Ray seem worse I take more pain killer than I should but I can keep going. I give more Paracetamol his fever looks less so I hopeful. I make a Risotto Bianco, little but I tell him he must eat. I very tired but I have house to clean, more importante now.

It also could mean that she feels a 20 year old IS a girl or boy. I know with more experience now that I truly was at that age (even being fortunate to have no developmental disabilities), even though I hated having an older person refer to me as a girl. And, I'll admit that I refer to a person in their early to mid 20s as a girl or boy when talking about them at times, though I generally do try to rearrange my thinking to young man or young woman.
I've found that I can't figure out how old people are anymore. Then again, maybe I never could. There was a time when it seemed that everyone was older than me. Now, of course, that's reversed. If anyone is under 30, they might as well be a teenager. As a friend one put it, he didn't feel like he was really an adult until he turned 30. I wouldn't call someone in their 20s a child, though (at least not to their face). :)

I went to Kroger around 10:30 PM last night. I am still being careful, my flu has run it's course, but the pneumonia still has a week or two of fifht left in it. I don't want to spread that around.

Anyway, the place looked as if it had been looted in a riot. I've never seen anything like it. I lived in Hurricane country for years, and theree would be rushes to stock up when a storm was coming, but people didn't trash the store. I said hello to on employee, and he just looked at me like a zombie. He has to clean all that mess up.

Onions, gone. Potatoes, gone. Bread, pffft, forget about it.

Crazy eh? Everything is pretty much normal but no gatherings of over 500 so concerts etc cancelled. Only exemptions are schools. As my daughter said last night mr7 school has 690 pupils.
Our tourism is taking a huge hit, one small town which is world renowned for plane towed glider adventures, laid off 21 people. For a tiny town, that's a knock out!!

One day into our whacky two-weeks-in-two-weeks-out work schedule and we've been told to work from home permanently for the foreseeable future.

In addition to restaurants and bars, the governor today shuttered cinemas, gyms, indoor water parks, community centers, etc. He's also allowing a lawsuit to push the primary election (scheduled for tomorrow) to June 2nd to proceed uncontested.

That bit you like. This situation will presumably affect your wife's work much more as she is involved in tourism?
Absolutely. She's a one-person workforce, so thankfully, she doesn't have people to lay off or anything.

The near-term isn't so bad, the cruise lines are guaranteeing her commissions on trips that clients have had to cancel (three clients so far, including our own trip to England and Norway), but this will affect travel for several months for her.

I popped into Walmart today to see what I could round up -- things I need now, not Stockpiling. Here is the Meat Department.

We buy mainly a trolley Load every Saturday, we pick up small things maybe every second day. Milk etc. I'm not bothered but then most kiwis are pretty laid back.

We are hard to pin down on normal shopping habits. some people but daily, or a a few times a week, others stock up. Some people do weekly menu plans, some shoot from the hip everyday. Most people I know do one big shop once a week, and pick up things they forgot, or when plans change, as needed.

This phenomenon going on right now is an anomaly. I've never seen hoarding like this.
