Ice Cream & Beer Bananas
Serves 3-4

Ingredients
3 bananas, ripe but still firm
2 TB butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup dark beer, preferably chocolate stout
1 pint dulce de leche or vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup peanuts, chopped

Directions
Peel the bananas and slice them into 1/2-inche slices. Set aside
Place the butter, sugar, and beer in a large skillet. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce is smooth, thickened, and bubbly. Do not let this scorch.
Add the bananas to the pan and gently swish them around to coat them. Allow them to heat for about 2 minutes.
Place ice cream in bowls, pour bananas and sauce over, and sprinkle with chopped peanuts.

This sauce also works well over waffles, pancakes, and crepes.

NOTE: Make this sauce just before serving, it doesn't hold well. Also, take care not to cook the bananas too long; just enough to heat through. They can go mushy very quickly if not careful.
