Every time I cook, the first thing I do is make sure the kitchen is clean. If there's dishes in the sink, stuff on the counter, or the stove top is messy, I have to get it all cleaned up before I start cooking. And then while I'm cooking, I'm constantly cleaning as I go and putting things away. I can't stand a mess or when other things are in the way.

When I'm done cooking it's cleaned and ready for the next time. I'm single so that's easy. I also clean as I go so there's not a deluge of cleaning anywhere in the kitchen experience. 👍

More or less yes, though it can depend on my mood and what I’m making. If there are a few dirty dishes around and I’m just scrambling up a couple of eggs and I’m in a hurry, I’ll scramble those eggs. If I’m making something a lot more involved, then it has to be cleaned up first.

I actually don’t prefer to clean as I go - something in my brain enjoys seeing a big mess at the end that gets tackled all at once. It’s the same feeling when looking at the 2-acre yard waiting to be mowed, or the driveway waiting to be shoveled. Doing it in bits takes away some of the thrill of it. 🤷‍♂️

In one word - no.

more than one word - not really.
We don't have the space, so stuff has to live on the work surfaces. We often have fruit or veg out on the worksurface, ripening. Right now, there are apples, bananas, nectarines, avocado, tomatoes and limes out, along with breakfast cereal, elderflower cordial and also dried pear slices.

When I do that ripening thing all the eggs on the whatever hatch and boom, instant flyers. I've now got an outside washing routine... 👍

Well, Georgia is one of those places that can have multiple bug life cycles of the same bug in a year, they abound. 🤷‍♂️
we get flies very badly here - they pester you constantly, but even though I don't treat my veg with anything, I don't seem to get fruit flies - guess I am lucky.

Fruit flies are an occasional pest, and those tiny ants can be a royal pain in the warmer months. Not now, but I spray along the house for them in the Spring and Summer. They're also all the more reason to keep my kitchen wiped down, and spick and span. 👍

Hear you on the ants and clean! I ended up caulking those windows shut to keep them out. This building was uninhabited for years before I got here and all the bugs were moved in.

Ants and I do not get on. They are totally banned from the house. Right now there is an electricity socket with sticky tape (physio stuff), completely sealing it off, in the bedroom, right next to where I sleep. They are in the wall, and every night without fail they were swarming or exploring the inside of that way, and many electrocuted themselves on the way out - so that there was a noticeable pile of bodies on the carpet below the socket. I tried filling the wall with coopex from the roof, where I could drill into the cornice unnoticed, and repair without leaving damage (I'm a tenant, but had permission) but that didn't get far enough down into the wall.... I have not been brave enough to remove the electric socket cover (with mains off) to dust in there, because I loath, hate and detest ants (bad experience as a kid). They are the only insect I can not cope with and I was always the kid at school handling the cockroaches and so on, on open day.

I am exactly like you. I can’t stand any type of mess around me when I am cooking, people included 😅 I can be a real nightmare.
I have to have every thing clean and tidy and not only in the kitchen.
I struggle with OCD
