Pasta Consumption

That's because the US is the world's biggest chicken consumer. I wouldn't be surprised if some folks eat cornflakes with chicken.
Seriously though...
There are NO Italian recipes, anywhere, with chicken and pasta, except one - in Sardinia. they prepare a very complicated pasta ring ( which looks a bit like a hair tie), serve it with a tomato sauce, and serve chicken on the side.
Still, who said you can't eat what you like? My wife wants Parmesan cheese on shrimp pasta, and I'm not going to argue with that...:hyper::hyper::hyper:
Hey, are you telling me that chicken cacciatore and chicken Florentine were invented in the US and not Italy? I had no idea.

My curiosity was aroused by a random pasta post just recently.
As I mentioned there, Venezuelans are huge pasta consumers. Not only are there hundreds of Italian restaurants here, but you'll also find local restaurants offering pasta dishes. The more creative, the better.
However, I just wondered whether, in other climes, folks stuck to the tried and tested, or branched out a bit.
So in the past few months, what pastas have you eaten or prepared? Lasagna, Mac n Cheese, Spaghetti Bolognese, Fettucine Alfredo; or have you gone for the Italian classics like Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, Arrabiata, Amtriciana, Aglio e Olio?
Most likely in the minority here, I am not a fan of any type of pasta. On the rare occasion I do eat it, it will be angel hair w/ garlic & olive oil or chicken tetrazzini with spaghetti sized pasta.

You would NEVER eat them with pasta. Capiche?:cool:
Pellegrino Artusi published the "bible'of Italian cooking in 1891. Pollo alla Cacciatora was in there.

We ate pasta and rice at home, but we were an exception to the rule.
And we had olive oil, for salad. Every meal came with fresh lettuce, didn't matter if it was pasta, Indonesian, fried eggs, the standard boiled potato, veg and meat...
Always salad.

Back to pasta:
I freestyle...
Quite often the sauce will have a SE Asian slant.
Chicken? Maybe with fettucini or spaghetti if I make it more like a stir fry, otherwise not.

Fettucini sometimes with non-Italian dishes as well, like gulyas or coq au vin.
Mostly rice in those cases, but yeah, sometimes pasta

Anyone have "Sunday Gravy" ??
Made some a couple days ago with meatballs to go with my stuffed shells.
I love pasta with chicken, LOLOLOL! A nice chicken picatta with some angelhair, yum.

Oh maybe throw out some bait for them and tell them you like fish with cheese over pasta and see the sparks fly then! I actually do like parmesan cheese with shrimp or fish over pasta. Nothing wrong with that in my book!
I put grated cheese on my linguine with white clam sauce.

Because my husband doesn't much like potatoes (though he's a convert for my roasties/sauteed potatoes/ and gratin Dauphinois) we limit potatoes to twice a week max. The other days are pasta or rice or bread based, though usually pasta or rice because my husband isn't super fond of bread dishes either.
And I aim to please with my cooking, so I keep in mind his preferences. I regularly make lasagna or pasta bakes, and frequently eat spaghetti too.
Currently I have two boxes of ravioli sitting in the fridge, I am planning a dish with them later this week. Just not sure entirely what it should be yet. Any suggestions?

I've always eaten pasta about once or twice a week, more often when I was a child because my parents preferred pasta and bread based meals over rice and potatoes. My favorites happen to be , you guessed it, rice and potatoes. I guess we all long for what we didn't have right? As I've heard everyone in my environment who grew up with mostly potatoes and bread, long for pasta and rice

I've eaten toasted and fried ravioli that taste pretty great, with a marinara dipping sauce. I also like a simple baked ravioli (baked in a tomato-based sauce) quite well.

I like them all about the same, though we probably ate more rice than anything else. I think it just depends on the person, because my Italian-American husband grew up eating pasta 3-4 times a week and he can pretty much eat it every day and be happy.
