Plans for tomorrow

  • University work in the morning

  • Talk to my mum for an hour on the phone and listen to her explanation of why she has named her pacemaker.
  • Shower
  • Put off planting any seeds, it's 3°C now and due to be -3°C on the morning.

VeSome miserable jobs today but who wants to think about that.
It’s so nice to finally be home and able to get in the kitchen again so instead I’ll mention the nice stuff, finish making the Rillette, get the chicken out of the brine before it gets to soggy and dry the skin, mix up a burger relish recipe I saw that looks a little different involving kimchi, sort out pizza toppings and see how the pizza dough faired in the fridge overnight.

I’ve always used pizza dough when it’s ready ie immediately after a decent second prove.
This time after the first rise I portioned them into balls and put them in the fridge. I’m not sure how that’s going to work out. I assume you let them come back up to room temp before using but do they need to go somewhere warm to finish the second rise? 🤷‍♀️
I've done dough like that lots of time where after the first proof it goes in the fridge. When they come out of the fridge I shape and then go for the 2nd rise. I sometimes expedite this, dough in a metal bowl, by preheating my oven to 170°F/80°C, turn it off, and then put the dough in to rise. If the dough is in a glass bowl I'll put it in and then turn the oven on.

Of course you need to either cover the dough or spray it with oil so it doesn't dry/crack.

👍

The gardener pruned the Ucaro (bucida spinosa) tree on Thursday, leaving piles of cut branches which he just didn't have time to pick up and dump. I said I'd do it, so that's this morning's little task.
We've got friends coming round this afternoon, so that means I'll have to go to the supermarket for supplies, and probably cook/prepare some snacks as well.

I had a big list but my hip is still bothering me from installing the outdoor cell phone booster antenna. It was only a 6' ladder in the back of the truck several times up and down but I guess that's too much anymore. 🤷‍♂️

So, I'll secure the inside cabling to the wall and tidy up the extra length with the minimum bend radius loops, plus a bit, for this particular coaxial cable given the frequency it's working at. Make the loops too small and you're attenuating the signal you're trying to boost! :whistling:

Yup, just take them out an hour or two before baking, and kitchen counter is fine, as long as your kitchen isn’t unusually cold.

I find they’re easier to shape when they’re still just a little cold. That overnight rest in the fridge will do wonders not just for the flavor, but for the chew and the airiness.

I have two large melons to slice dice and put in the `fridge
I have two loaves of Wally-World Sliced Italian bread to divvy up and freeze
I have half a pot of that ever present steamed White Rice to also divvy up and freeze
I want to put together two casseroles, one for next door, one for my Mom and one for Moi
I need to give DH a pedicure!
All while not getting out of PJ's!!!!!!!!

I looked at it here and it's about $2,500 alone for the 5G kit. Guess I'm passing on that for the moment. Luckily the registration of such a device (legally required in Australia) is free.
