I never said you were. But let's stick to "plans for today".I'm not obese but point taken.
Pls send me some sunshineThe sun is shining this morning, going at the bar for a good cappuccino, then a walk through the countryside
I’m utterly shocked by that.WOW. I would be furious if a doctor said something like that to me!
The same doctor as above did have another moment that really got me pissed off - I was having my annual physical, and due for a pap smear. So, I’m there in that thin paper gown, feet in the stirrups, lying back and thinking of England. The doctor is busy rummaging around in my girl parts.
He says to me “when are you going to have a baby?” I told him “Never. I don’t want children”. Without missing a beat, he said “You’re selfish”. I immediately wanted absolutely tear a strip off him, but a wise little voice in the back of my head said “Herbaceous, it is probably unwise to argue with the man holding the speculum”.
He then tried to convince me that I should have children to take care of me when I’m old. Speaking of selfishness…
I thought the same. It's just general chat.Soz just read the off topic comment.
Edit- Just wondering though if it would be ok to let people meander off topic on this type of thread? It’s not like anyone arrives here thinking oh no I was after information about peoples plans for the day
It’s just sometimes it might be nice to let the natural ebb and flow of conversation to happen. It’s how people get to know each other, it’s what creates the familiarity that keeps people coming back.
I mean if it was in a pub or other social setting there wouldn’t be a stopper put on the chatter while someone said hey no sorry we’re talking about the merits of cask ales, if you want to talk about something else you need to go to another table, bye.
Just occasionally it cuts a good conversation dead.
I totally understand that you’d want food thread on a food forum to stay on topic. No-one wants to read three pages about Mrs Tiggywinkles sniffles when they were looking for info on how to sous vide but on the more general subjects where no-ones going to be looking for anything specific maybe we could let the conversations run a bit?
Just a thought. No offence intended, I think you all do a great job running the site or I wouldn’t be here!
I second that (or is it third by now)I thought the same. It's just general chat.

Hi kk, so from what I can tell, this is one of the threads designated for off-topic chatter.Mod Edit: about 25 off topic posts. "Plans for Today" do not include "what the doctor said to the patient " or discussions on obesity, ladies and gentlemen.
Yes, it is, but within the Cafe, there are still specific topics, so if something in Plans for today would be better suited for the General Chat thread, then we may opt to move it.from what I can tell, this is one of the threads designated for off-topic chatter.
Ahh, I understand what you are saying, but it's kinda like a bunch of kids at recess having fun and talking and having the strict teacher come out and say, "Quit having fun! Go somewhere else and have fun, but you can't do it here!"Yes, it is, but within the Cafe, there are still specific topics, so if something in Plans for today would be better suited for the General Chat thread, then we may opt to move it.
It’s no different than someone posting a “I’m planning on watching XYZ on TV tonight” in General Chat and we move it to the TV topic…it’s something the mods have determined is better suited there.
