Plans for today (2025)

Plan for today is to keep my fingers crossed and hope for sunshine.
Hardly anything yesterday and the day before, so my solar system is on the bare minimum, even having switched of most electrical equipment at night.
Other than that ... Watering garden and deciding what to eat. Not much more planned

He then tried to convince me that I should have children to take care of me when I’m old. Speaking of selfishness…

I’m utterly shocked by that.
That’s an outrageous way to speak to someone. As if his life choices are the correct ones and you should do the same WTF!

It really get on my nerves when people start on with Do you have kids? Why don’t you have kids?
I mean seriously there’s literally no answer thats going to satisfy that person and they may even being stamping all over something that’s very sensitive for the other person. At best they’re left have to try and justify themselves when really it should be the other way around - Why did you have kids? Bit selfish isn’t it?!!

Edit- Just wondering though if it would be ok to let people meander off topic on this type of thread? It’s not like anyone arrives here thinking oh no I was after information about peoples plans for the day 😂
It’s just sometimes it might be nice to let the natural ebb and flow of conversation to happen. It’s how people get to know each other, it’s what creates the familiarity that keeps people coming back.

I mean if it was in a pub or other social setting there wouldn’t be a stopper put on the chatter while someone said hey no sorry we’re talking about the merits of cask ales, if you want to talk about something else you need to go to another table, bye.

Just occasionally it cuts a good conversation dead.

I totally understand that you’d want food thread on a food forum to stay on topic. No-one wants to read three pages about Mrs Tiggywinkles sniffles when they were looking for info on how to sous vide but on the more general subjects where no-ones going to be looking for anything specific maybe we could let the conversations run a bit?

Just a thought. No offence intended, I think you all do a great job running the site or I wouldn’t be here!

Yes, it is, but within the Cafe, there are still specific topics, so if something in Plans for today would be better suited for the General Chat thread, then we may opt to move it.

It’s no different than someone posting a “I’m planning on watching XYZ on TV tonight” in General Chat and we move it to the TV topic…it’s something the mods have determined is better suited there.

Ahh, I understand what you are saying, but it's kinda like a bunch of kids at recess having fun and talking and having the strict teacher come out and say, "Quit having fun! Go somewhere else and have fun, but you can't do it here!"

My plans for today are to get some work done this afternoon. I have to travel north up near where my oldest daughter lives and I am going to drop in unexpectedly and surprise her. My plan is to do it right when her 5 year old gets home from school and her 2 year old is running around driving her crazy. I'll drop off some cookies or other sugary snack so they get all wired and drive her nuts, give them all a hug and kiss, and leave, LOL!
