Broke a glass bowl with red sauce in it tonight. I was making canneloni and had 1 tray in the oven when I was making a backup tray for the freezer. I had the canneloni rolled and in the tray and was getting ready to ladle sauce over it. I grabbed the bowl of sauce by the edge and it slipped and slammed down on my granite counter, breaking into shards, sauce everywhere, all over me, the floor, counter, and shards of glass in the tray of canneloni. Into the trash it went and then an hour spent cleaning up the mess. I'll be doing another vacuum and mop tomorrow. Ugh.

Oh dear that's very disappointing.
I had one of those times in the kitchen yesterday morning.
Had a heavy plate with char sui pork in one hand and was fishing about in the fridge with the other. Unbeknown to my distracted brain I was pouring sticky meat juices all over the floor. Then I dropped a plate which shattered into a million shards. Once I'd cleared up those messes I was on a step ladder carelessly attacking the a shelf rummaging for the plating rings and pulled a load of tins down on my head and fell off the ladder! I'm not at a clumsy person by any means so it was all a bit of a shock.

But I think yours is a worse time because the pain of losing a dish you've put time and energy into stings a lot more.
Hopefully the kitchen gods will make your next efforts rewarding and set things straight 🤗

I'm currently outside making fish stock for lobster thermidor later. I found it a tad irritating that Waitrose (a supermarket known for stocking good ingredients for foodies) don't sell any fish stock. I was directed to Knorr fish stock cubes because that's all they have!
They don't even have heads, bones or shells to sell you at their fish counter for you to make your own.
Heyho, this'll give a better end result anyway.

Posting a pic to show this nifty little thing I bought on a whim that actually works.
That black fan hovering near the pot with silver dots on the propeller is designed to keep flies away from your food.

I've used it a couple of times, once over the bbq meat and once over the food on the table outside and both times no flies!
The smell of the fish stock immediately brought a couple of big bluebottles but the fan seems to have frightened them away! Marvellous.

I love my granite counters but when glass hits them it's like a glass shrapnel grenade goes off. I've found glass all the way across the room and I've an open house.

I'm glad you're okay! I read somewhere that bread slices pick up glass shards so I use those for the sake of Pippi's feet. I've got glass in mine but it doesn't really bother anymore.

What’s the book going to be?
Indian food - between us, we've done so many events for the Embassy that it's time to cash in!
She runs a catering company and, imho, plates better than anyone I know. You can get an idea of what she prepares HERE
I've probably got 50 or 60 recipes I can prepare from scratch; she's got the pizzazz to put them all together and make them loook good.
