Plans for today (2025)

I didn't get much sleep also. Woke at 2.30 am couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and went downstairs and put heat pump in up. It was 2 deg c it's now 11am.
Booze trip pay telecom bill. I just adjusted my plan $75; endless data. Plus I ordered a new s24 Samsung phone. I chose black over green or blue.
Another $1100 getting old is expensive.
I will pick up lunch while out.

Russ
I used to buy my phones outright but my current Samsung, 2 years old, required a payment plan... Phones are just ridiculous. There's an outfit, Fairphone, that's cool but they don't sell in the US. Cheaper phones, more green, and not locked into Giggle.

They gave me a $300 credit as a good customer (30 years) and pay over 12 months. I'll prolly pay the lot next bill.

Have I understood @karadekoolaid? I assumed pickles but perhaps it's whole Indian dishes?
The pickles/chutneys/jams project is still in progress, but I'll have to see how much it costs, and there will definitely be a professional photographer around. No jars in that one, methinks!
This book (it was approved today) will be Indian recipes, and it came out of the blue. The good thing is, between the two of us, most of the recipes are already written down, so it's a question of choosing a balanced selection, organising the book itself and getting the photos done. We both know several pros, so it 'll eventually come down to which one offers us the best deal!

I find the photos are often the make or break in in a book. If there’s no photo’s then fine but if there’s a poor quality photo it can be off putting. Maybe the choice of photographer should in part come down to who you think is the very best of the bunch - price taken into account of course?

I’m going to unpack the Ninja and see if it’s possible to get it on the bike.
I’ve ordered a couple of cargo nets but it’s surprisingly heavy and unwieldy, it needs to be strapped down very securely without damaging it, 80mph (sometimes more on closed private roads 😉) against anything that sticks out on a motorcycle has a hard time. Might need a test run 🤔

Then clean and dropper the dogs eyes (the conjunctivitis is back 😞) and a new dog bed is arriving today because the current one is not washable and she rubs her eye’s on it.

Tidy the kitchen which somehow turned into a bomb site yesterday!

Putting in a food order. It’s one of those annoying menu’s where you have to be able to cater for 2 or 6 people depending on who suddenly decides they’re coming, or not.
My youngest is notorious for saying he’s coming and forgetting about it, or more commonly forgetting to mention he is coming and appearing with some of the first words out of his mouth being “I’m a bit hungry”

So far I’ve got Chilli dogs, Coq au vin, Tuna Melts and Butter Chicken Curry.
All of those can be bumped up or down in quantity. The leftovers can be frozen or have long dates.
It’s tricky thinking of easy nice things when you’re tired and not in the mood for any great effort, that was the best I could do!
If anyone has any easy go to’s they use for unpredictable occasions let me know.
Chips anyone? 😂

Got this far and am now looking for a waterproof sack/laundry bag it might fit in.
So far no joy.

Probably going to have to do round two with pallet wrap and a duck tape/tarpaulin make shift job.
You know after all this effort it’ll be a no go 🤦‍♀️ 😂

Dustbin bags could fit?

Dustbin bags could fit?
Sadly they’re not wide enough, it’s 40 X 40 X 45, even a big bin bags not close, I did try.
Even if it did fit, bin bags do tend to get torn on long motorcycle rides and suddenly everything’s wet.

Although I did once go on a coast to coast ride with a group of people from Lands End to John o’ Groats and there was an 83year cool dude on a 125cc, he did 1225miles with a bin bag of clothes strapped to the back of his bike. Then again the top speed of a 125 moped on the hilly ground we were covering was about 20mph so not a lot of danger 😂

Edit: The bin bag was wasn’t in any danger but myself and Mr SSOAP were as he asked us join him for some of his more dangerous route choices in case anything happened to him, we did the steepest twistiest inclines the UK has. He had some mad skills. We did Buttertubs pass, Porlock Hill, Hardknott pass, Cairn O’Mount and one I can’t remember that still makes my heart rate go up even now 😂

Today will be busy for me:

take DH to the Dentist (he still can't really drive a car-gets too anxious)
go over to my Mother's and get her stocked up on groceries
go to the market for a few bits and bobs to tide us over until we leave (milk, yogurt, etc.)
gas up the car
take the car through the car wash
return an item to Costco
pick up more vitamin D3 and Magnesium Glycinate at the pharmacy for us two
take DH's BiPap machine in to be repaired

*phew*

But first, let's finish off this second cup of coffee and then we'll fly ...

Easy, grilled cheese and bologna, the cheap stuff, for those that show up w/out proper notice...

I recall setting up hors d'oeuvres with the Floyd County library director when she was hosting a meeting of the board. We ran out of whatever so used some off brand of canned ham in the food processor with enough spices, seasonings, and lard to present a passable pâté... It was loved everywhere, amazing for $0.50/can. 😁

That’s the sort of stuff they make for themselves so I’m not gonna start doing that for them 😂

I don’t mind them showing up without proper notice, they are young and spontaneous so I keep it easy breezy.

I make Bolognese or other tomato-based pasta sauces in large quantities and then freeze them in different size containers. It's easy to heat frozen pasta sauce in a saucepan and make pasta. Not that we have much in the way of unpredictable occasions. Takeout always works well, LOL.

My main unpredictable is the power... Coleman camping appliances on that one.

Yer, bolognese is a good standby.
I’m not adverse to takeaway but with one with a nut and exotic fruit allergy, one with an marked dairy intolerance, one coeliac and one who has an obvious reaction to sulphites that turns ordering takeaway into a multi-order debacle that is more hassle than cooking 😂
