Plans for today (2025)

Plans for Saturday:
make brunch for us two - homemade Bran Muffins (already done this afternoon) with Bacon and Eggs
bake off a dozen of my Chocolate Chip cookies from the dough that I've left to sit in the `fridge for two days
portion out the remaining cookie dough and freeze for later, I've got 4.25 pounds of dough :giggle: I should get 5 dozen cookies in total
go back to our local Kroger's - they stiffed me a bottle of wine in my order, dang it all!
make a Sausage & Rice Casserole, that I'll divvy up into three - one for Moi and two to share
"The Holidays" will be upon us before I know it, so I'm thinking of what I'll cook/bake/household décor for both Mom's apartment and our house
... and not necessarily in that order

Going to get blood drawn (routine for yearly checkup) and then to do some work. I'm fasting so I'm grumpy.
So I went to get my blood drawn at the same place I've been going for 15 years at my doctor's office complex. I never have needed an appointment as I was always able to be seen quickly as a walk in. Well, when I got there, the location had a sign stating they were temporarily closed and to visit their alternative location on the same street. Went down there and started to check-in on the kiosk, and a distraught, frazzled phlebotomist came out and said she wasn't taking walk-ins and I'd have to call to make an appointment. I asked if I could just make an appointment right then, and she said no, I'd have to call. Went to the parking lot to call and after the stupid automated system finally put me through, I made an appointment for Monday, so have to fast again 🤬

I couldn't wait to get to my first job which was another Panda Express takeout shop, as after fasting I was super famished. Got my meal, drove away to find a shady spot to take photos and eat, and...they didn't give me a fork. I had to drive all the way back to get one from their self serve station but those aren't wrapped in plastic so I had to join the line of ordering customers. When I got to the counter, they said, "We have forks over there at the drink station" and I had to explain I wanted one sealed. Ugh, I got a weird look and a smirk from that teenaged employee which ticked me off even more, but oh well. I finally got to eat!

I'm buying it since you've got it. I figure if it rates in your kitchen then it'll fit in mine. 👍

Also, my sandwich skills don't go much farther than PB&J, ham and cheese, or roast beef with horseradish. Seeing Puggles' sandwiches I'm going to have a go. Plus, someone on this forum talked me into getting that ham press thing too... 😂

I’ll hold my hand up to the ham press but I’m not taking responsibility for the book cos his combos are ‘out there’ enough that you’ll be doubting most of them at every step until you finally taste them 😂 Plus he’s British and American n British tastes do vary a bit.

It’s worth mentioning he makes all of the components that go into his sandwich’s but doesnt expect anyone else to. I make some of them (eg the beef and lightly pickled onions) but not all of them. I take his suggestions for alternatives (which he uses himself) to stop making a sandwich turning into a multi-day event!
