Recipe Pork meatballs & sweet n sour sauce

Meatballs

500gm pork mince
3cm ginger - minced
3 garlic cloves - minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp msg (optional)
1/2 tsp ground white pepper
2 tsp sesame oil

Stir Fry

1 Tbls neutral oil
1 onion
1 stick celery
1 capsicum (any colour)
1 carrot
*any extra greens - beans, zucchini, broccoli
1 small can chopped pineapple in juice.


Sauce

1/4 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup light soy sauce
2 Tbls rice wine vinegar
1 Tbls Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup pineapple juice (from the can)
1 Tbls corn flour

Mix together meatball ingredients, giving the mixture a good bash to get the proteins sticky then roll into balls about of about 2cm

Mix all your sauce ingredients in a small jug.

Peel and slice veg into chunks

Brown meatballs and remove to a plate.
Get pan hot, Stir fry veg in oil for a minute
Add sauce, stirring
Add pineapple pieces
Add meatballs back in.
Stir and simmer together for 2 minutes.

Serve with rice or if low carbing, serve with slaw.

These meatballs look delicious and I love the vibrant colours of the dish. Personally, I'd leave out the MSG though.

Is this intended as an entry for the current recipe challenge?


I’d enter it if I could figure out the tagging thing. I don’t get the option to tag it as an entry. Only get a couple of options and that’s not one of them.

I have a lot of stuff to say about msg and how it occurs naturally in almost every natural food and how the American government and media made the devil out of it during their anti Chinese immigrant policy days.

Did you know that breast milk contains LOADS of msg but because of this completely unfounded fear mongering the companies that make baby formula are not allowed to add it in? Crazy.

The average human adult has approximately 2kg of glutamate in their body at all times.

I could go on & on.
