The only time I have used coffee was to make homemade Kalua . Since Kalua is a coffee drink (homemade) would that count as a coffee ingredient?

Yep. A recipe for either food or drink which contains coffee is eligible. Unless of course its simply a cup of coffee!

Not likely! I hate being judge. I was just clarifying that the CookingBites Recipe Challenge is a recipe challenge not a ('food recipe' challenge). You are the judge of course. Technically, I suppose we could allow recipes for how to make 'the perfect cup of coffee'!
