The General Chat Thread (2025)

Oh I'm glad I don't like anywhere near to you!

I can't wait to replace our current cheap solar panel lights that are only meant to come on with movement. It never stops they are permanently dim after dark, getting brighter with movement. It drives me batty seeing them on all the time.
Pretty much every house on our road has them. We were feeling left out!

I’d bought some cheaper ones at Aldi a little while ago and they stopped working almost immediately - one of the rare times something from Aldi ended up being crap.

I got some at Dollar Tree for $1.25/ea. and after a year only one of them quit working. 👍

I love them but I have considered shooting the floodlight that is almost half a mile from our house and angled directly at it 😂

Fortunately the owners were sympathetic and have now angled it downward.
I seem to be incredibly light sensitive (maybe something to do with being deaf and other senses having to compensate), to the extent any change in light will wake me up 🤷‍♀️

Wth???

I have had a jumbo sized bottle of Thai fish sauce that the lip of the lid snapped off on first use, it shuts extremely tightly and I have to use a knife and quite some force to carefully open it every single time.

It being a 725ml bottle and fish sauce being something you only need a dash of means this bottle has been my frenemy for a long old while now.
A replacement from the Oriental supermarket would cost me £2.80 but will I give in, hell no, that bottle WILL give me it’s contents!! 😂

That one's about the same size and from Vietnam, same thing.

Any change in light, or sound, or vibration, wakes me up. So sunrise a phone blinking, a TV set in a hotel (gets converted with a towel of i can't unplug it), lightening, thunder, hubby turning over, rumbles that I feel through the ground the lot wake me up. One if the many reasons we live rurally. (And yes the mattress is one of those nice ones where you can jump up and down on one side and the other doesn't move).

My pet peeve is hotel fire alarms that have a little light inside them that flashes every two minutes or so.
