I wonder if the heat make the neck red, where is the term coming from? There's a reason redneck jokes exist.
Probably from wearing a T-shirt and no sunscreen on the neck? Makes a profound contrast from the white area that the t-shirt covered and the burn. Who knows. Might be the heat, too I guess. Lord knows rednecks exist in other places than the southern US. We've got them here in Ohio as well.I wonder if the heat make the neck red, where is the term coming from?
The sunburn. Working class poor white in the South. Circa 1930's.I wonder if the heat make the neck red, where is the term coming from?

Lived in NV and worked on roofs in AZ and UT too, don't have to tell me about sun damage.I bet you they burn worse in Southern California.
Inland. One of my besties and his wife live in San Diego and are sun worshippers. Granted they put on sunscreen. But I do think inland it gets much hotter and the UV rays are stronger.I bet you they burn worse in Southern California.
When I was in my 20s, I used to go the beach everyday, but I always made sure I had on sunscreen, my skin is still pretty good. The only problem is I have is cataracts, problem with my eyes because I didn’t wear UV sunglasses back then. But right now, I don’t wear glasses to use my phone nor my iPad. I don’t enlarge the texts either.Inland. One of my besties and his wife live in San Diego and are sun worshippers. Granted they put on sunscreen. I did have a minor spot of basal cell carcinoma removed about 15 years ago. When I was in my 20s, I used to go the beach everyday, but I always made sure I had on sunscreen, my skin is still pretty good.
