The General Chat Thread (2025)

So I buy these hard candies that are multiple fruit flavors and usually towards the end of it I just chew it up. The other day I was thinking I shouldn't do that, might break a tooth. Guess what... Heard/felt a crack that wasn't reminiscent of breaking sugar and there I was with a piece if tooth, still hanging onto my gum. Went and had a look, not bad, figured it'd come loose at night while sleeping and I'd swallow it.

Wasn't there this AM. 🤷‍♂️
Well it wasn’t worthy of being in your head so it had to go, I suspect the tooth fairy took care of it for you last night, have you checked under your pillow?

Don't know about that. I know not having all your teeth puts a real damper on eating...

Can't remember the last time I had pistachios, fresh radishes, raw celery, apples...
My husband has a brace on the back of his upper 4 teeth because 1 of them is loose. I know it's hard for him to bite into anything and he has to cut up sandwiches and pizza to eat them. I cut his bagels into bite size pieces before I put the cream cheese and toppings on to make it easier for him. The dentist told him he should just lte him pull it and get an implant.

I recall when all the dentist said was "Keep your teeth." and then one day it changed to "Pull 'em all out!" Another wtso* that only worked 3 days a week.

Aren't you and KK having a competition or something?
Not really the kind of involuntary competition I'd like to have with Barriehie, to be honest, but it does seem that way.
One of my (few remaining) upper teeth broke while I was cleaning my teeth the other day. Fortunately, there's still enough there to support my dentures, otherwise $$$$$$$$$

We are losing a few more teeth than we'd like, most of us anyway. I've got 1 crown, an implant, and a hole, and one temporarily rebuilt tooth (due to the mercy of my dentist) that's still good after 5 years (was supposed to last only a year). All molars thankfully. No idea what the future brings but hoping my the rest of my teeth remain intact.

I had a crown and it came off. I tired of trying to glue it back on and eventually the tooth split into 3 pieces, that wiggled no less. Hurt like hell down in there for awhile and then that stopped, I've got oodles of antibiotics. The tops wore down and now it's two distinct holes around 4 or 5 mm wide. 🤷‍♂️

Do you go to a dentist? That seems painful.

I consider a crown is still your own tooth, it’s the implants that are not. I haven’t had a cavity for over 50 years, however, I did have cavities when I was younger, hence I had some crowns in the back teeth, but they may not last, not for over 50 years. This is where I plan to do implant and not bridge.

No insurance = no dentist. I wasn't working for a place that offered insurance.

After my hip replacement I dropped healthcare; there's no way I can afford it. The last visit to my orthopedic surgeon cost me, with insurance, $500. I'm done with Dr.'s...

Are you getting Medicare yet? My husband and I are both on Medicare and so far they take care of most bills.
