I've found that sitting with your feet in cold water also helps. And i have been known to lie down with a damp beach sized towel over me when it hits +40°C (with us having no AC at all).

I had an unexpected visitor yesterday.
When I went to check on my chooks my head count came up at 1 and an imposter. All the chooks bar one were outside in the rain (and dark). They wouldn't go into the chook house with this particular visitor which given they don't mind lizards and dragons in the chook house with them is rather surprising.
He wasn't the happiest bird in the world and being a protected species, I had to be careful. He was already injured so quite annoyed with the world! He should survive his injuries. They didn't look like anything was broken but he couldn't fly. I think from his injury he may have hit a power line with the heading edge where his wing meets the body.
He's a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. And he is a he.
He's now with wildlife rescue and if he survives will be released from here when he's better.
He had demolished a very big pile ofblack sunflower seeds by the time rescue arrived.

Yes, DH & I are back on "The Mainland" and our family back in Hawaii live far upland so no issues foreseen there, but we have not heard from them. When things like this happen, it's always best to just shelter in place.
