They do the same at my Mother's Senior Living Community, she gets a big kick out of that... I made sure that she had some candies to hand out.
Then the staff puts out some drinks and cakes for everyone to enjoy.

Ok, stopped for breakfast out due to an early doc’s appointment, and I went to the deservedly much-maligned Cracker Barrel, because MrsT loves those seasonal chewy Werther’s caramels that come in the maple flavor, and CrackBar and Aldi are the only two places that carry them around here, and as we’re solidly into the Christmas season now (don’t argue the point, you’ll lose), they’re not being restocked, so it’s a matter of buy them when you see them, because when they’re gone, they’re gone until next year.

As luck would have it, The Barrel had five bags, so I bought them. That and my breakfast came to $38.

Went to pay, and the cashier asked me, “Are you a rewards member?”

“No, not having an incentive to eat here is reward enough,” is what I thought, but what I said was just a plain no, and then waited for the usual push to sign up. Instead…

“Well…you look friendly, so imma jus’ use mah ‘Friends & Family’ discount that I get,” and her discount brought my bill all the way down to…wait for it…$21! That’s a good discount. I was expecting $3-$4 at most, not $17!
 
Took DH to his 1 month follow up appointment with the Cardiac Electrophysiologist device check with the techies. They were checking up on his Dual ICD (aka Pace Maker and Defibrillator combined) and we got a pass this time, finally. We got a reprieve for SIX MONTHS!!! He's doing so well with this, along with maybe 4 different tweaks to his heart meds.
Our Electro guy is down in The Big City and the techs called him to verify with him everything that was going on and what other steps they should be taking. Electro Doc said that DH needs to see the new Electro guy that's moving here NEXT MONTH. We are tops on the waitlist to see this new guy.

My poor darling has a very hard time understanding all of the medical mumbo-jumbo speak, not that I'm some expert, which is why I keep a dedicated note book for this purpose. I take detailed notes each time we go and ask a bunch of questions along the appointment. I know that this irritates him to no end, but someone needs to know WTF is going on and why. So we discussed this on the way home and he agreed that yes, it does bother him when I ask a herd of questions, but he said that's his problem and he's glad that I take his care so seriously.

I do indeed take all of this quite seriously. I almost lost my dearest and I'm not ready for that yet.

I got an app for my phone that recorded audio and converted to a pdf when I was going through my hip replacement.

My doc said that she just got that!!

She loves it, so that she doesn't have to spend half a day noting patients records.... that could really work for me!

I'm sure you know this but...
... make sure you
1) check out what technology is being used to transcribe it (if it is AI remember that you will need doctor's consent and that everything going up there is not private anymore - a lot of transcribetech is AI)
2) get consent from all parties every single time otherwise you could be breaking the law.

Handwriting notes gets around these issues.

Over here, a doctor or medical professional must get consent at every single appointment they use AI in to do their medical records for them. I'm not happy with medical records being done by AI to be honest. Too many people don't realise what they are agreed to allow happen because they don't understand the technology. I don't trust them to have read or understood the small print.

And I use AI every single day for other stuff.

That's all I'll say on it here. I don't wish to derail the thread, just to make sure you realise what's needed to legally use any recording device at all in medical situations, let alone to use what is probably AI transcribing in a medical situation.
