Turns out the bacon crisper rack is not really necessary, if you have a trivet that is high set then that will work fine (better in fact).
It needs rotating (as in twist the rack 180 degrees) mid way as IP airfryers do have hot spots that cook one side faster than the other if you're not using the airfryer whirligig underneath it.
But twisting a rack four mins in is minor compared to frying it in a pan.
Loaded up -
Midway, you can see one side is more cooked than the other due to the swirly airfryer base being missing.
Just two minutes later
And lazy bacon sandwich
To use this method you have to be alright with it not all being cooked completely evenly.
The top areas crisp faster.
Which I like a lot. I like how the texture changes and how the sauce intermingles in the bacon slightly differently with each bite because of the bacons curves.
You can if you prefer lay it down flat on the racks to get completely even cooking but this floats my boat so much more
