DId you use mayo on this?
I ask because some people use mayo in place of butter for the outside (*shudders*) I don't, I'm a purist, I use good ol' Kerry Gold on the outside and a touch of oil in the pan to help raise the smoke point of the butter.Mayo - sacrelidge Sir - just sacrelidge, err nope just cheese
I've never heard of anyone using mayonnaise, only butter, cheese, and bread.Must be an American thing but I'm like you - a purist - butter on the outside and cheese (and whatever) on the inside and cook on a medium heat
I saw it in an episode of Mr. Robot and googled it afterwards, and it was more common than I thought, but I'll never do it!

Add a hamburger patty and It's a patty melt. Add tuna and it's a tuna melt. Add turkey and it's a turkey melt. And so forth. And you're allowed to put mayonnaise inside...
Not allowed unless there's a protein in there too. Bacon melt...yum.
