Tips for cleaning stained coffee pots, teapots & cookware

There is a school of thought that a tanin stained teapot adds to the flavour of the tea. But if you prefer your teapots and coffee pots sparkling clean, please add your tips.

There are some suggestions here:

If you mean household bleach, yep, that's the one I use. We have very soft water tho and am guessing that citric acid - or vinegar - helps get rid of calcium and mineral deposits too.

Yes diluted household bleach.
I got soft water so no need to clean lime deposits etc

Outside blackened pots ..
Slurry of sand and dishwasher. But I wouldn't try it on your good pots.
I use it on cast iron occassionally

Add some baking soda to the slurry. It increases the pH and makes it more molecularly active in an electrical kind of way.

I just love engineer's replies. That's the sort of thing my son tells me (civil engineer).
Me? I'm artistic. I just whack the stuff in there and see if it floats in the breeze.

Now that's better.

We use baking soda. One teaspoon in a mug, top up with boiling water, leave for an hour then clean the cup in detergent as usual. We also use it on the teapot, but it can take 2-3 cycles.

If you want a commercial product, I use Bar Keepers Friend - not very often, but it’ll remove just about anything.
