Tips, tricks or hacks.

Much to my annoyance someone emptied the dishwasher and stacked my prep bowls together while hot. The one at the bottom of the pile was broken and above two were so welded together they wouldn’t budge.
I tried the usual running the bottom one under a hot tap.
Tried leaving the bottom one in hot water and putting an icecube in the top but nope no joy.

Everyone has had a go at separating these with no success. Yesterday I was about to give up and throw them away when I decided I had nothing to lose by trying this to keep the hot water properly hot and iced bowl cold. I also took a small brush a pushed cooking oil around the rim.

It only flippin’ worked 😊

I did something similar with my IP stainless steel inner pot and one of my new regular pots. Since they're both metal I could really heat up the outer one, used a propane torch and the outer one gripped so tight the ceramic coating on the inside marked the SS pot.

I just found a preferred way to reheat pancakes (the thicker, fluffier American style).

Most websites say to either reheat them in a toaster or in the oven, but they always come out rather dry and tough (though I suppose that’s what syrup is for), but today, it occurred to me I could sort of steam them to keep them moist.

Set the oven to 325F, grabbed a rimmed baking sheet, put a cooling rack over it, on with my six pancakes, then I boiled some water in the kettle.

Put the baking sheet contraption in the oven, poured the water into the pan, quickly covered it loosely with some foil, and 10 minutes later…perfectly light, tender, fluffy reheated pancakes.

I’d love to think I just invented that, but it’s the same way I reheat slices of meatloaf and ground beef burgers, to keep from drying those out as well.

The foil goes over the pancakes or under them?
