What’s going on in your garden (2025)?

Do you plant yellow squash and if so do they get squash vine borers?
No, I haven’t planted yellow squash before, nor have I had issues with squash vine borers. I have had problems with cucumber beetles on my squash in the past.

I haven’t grown squash for a few years, I’ve had issues with some sort of fungal disease in my soil for a while. I’ve been slowly solarizing sections of my garden for the past few years, which hopefully should get rid of it. Maybe I’ll try zucchini again this year!

Um don't you just poke the seed into some dirt, water it and wait for it to grow?

If you’re lucky!

The good news is that generally speaking, plants want to grow. Sometimes there’s pests, or diseases, or the weather doesn’t cooperate. But generally, plants do their very best to grow.

Neem oil should work on the beetles if they eat it while they're still young.
