What’s going on in your garden (2026)?

I took out 2 papaya trees recently, they came from seeds of a Hawaiian papaya I ate last year. Something I learned this year is they can be male, female, and depends on how or where they are planted, they can switch around their sex, too complicated for me.

I went to my seed box and only found Black Krim. I was looking for Sun Gold, maybe I used them all last year. But I do have lots of other varieties to try.
When I’m back from Hawaii, I will buy a Sun Gold and a Japanese variety, Momotaro. This nursery is getting the seeds directly from Japan. Second generation of Japanese nursery.

Checking my tomato seeds again, I’m thinking of growing Hillbilly, a type of Beefsteak with yellow stripes, and Coustralee, another type of red Beefsteak , the fruit size can be huge, and a regular Beefsteak. Honestly I got these seeds very cheap from Morgan County Seeds, they sell a large packet with over 100 seeds for about a dollar.
Then I have so many different paste tomatoes, I’m trying them again like Amish Paste, Korean Long, and 2 more varieties.
But the seed packet that I’m most excited to try is Corbaci, a Turkish heirloom pepper variety that was recommended to me online.

I don't think it depends on where they are planted....
I just removed 2 males...
2 girls are staying and I am waiting to see what the other one is. You only know when they flower
(Both male and female plants flower, the flower stem is longer on the males)

From some of the youtube videos I’ve watched, if you plant it in the ground, it can be male, then you plant it in the container it then turns to female. Not consistent to me.

What tomatoes?
Not really sure, actually, because they were seeds I'd taken from fresh tomatoes, at some stage, and just spread on a piece of kitchen towel!
I think they might be grape and yellow cherry, but I'll have to wait and see.

This morning I found out the vermin have discovered my Algerian Fremont mandarin tree, 2 mandarins were on the ground and here’s proof. I need to wait a few days of sunshine before I can harvest the rest.
