What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy (2025)?

Congrats!

I've gone through using just about every modern device known to make coffee going back to an enameled French drip pot. At the end of the day I go with my 18/8 stainless percolator. View attachment 138283
They never fail! We have similar tho I like espresso best - my fave stovetops espresso makers - a Bialetti and a Guido Bergna both heavy stainless

Not only that I saw a lot of books about Buddhism in her garage, bought brand new, probably never read even. I said to her to read some of these books sometime, Buddhism is about against attachment to material stuff. She was not too pleased with my comment.
I was that way with some things And yes, I would get insulted or upset when asked to get rid of some things. As you might already know, hoarders seem to want to live in their own private world of junk. They climb over their belongings to get into the next room. They like it that way. A woman that lives in an apt across from me gave me a king-size bed. I took it. Later, she offered to give me two night stands. I couldn't take them. I already had two, so I had to turn them down on account I already had two. I can't take any more stuff.:(

My daughter said Pyrex that was made years was very good, not lately. What I’m not sure if the Pyrex my sister bought is of good quality or not, maybe it wasn’t.
The newer pyrex seems to chip and break more than the older stuff does. I agree with the older stuff being "better".

I've got one of those stovetop things too but don't like watching it to remove it from the heat, sometimes the gasket leaks. 😬

I made another gasket to fit under the installed one but having to do that given what the thing cost was BS.

But which type of Pyrex are people talking about? ‘Pyrex’ or ‘PYREX’
It’s two different companies.
After the company split the stuff made for America was no longer borosilicate and made from a much cheaper, weaker, less heat resistant type of glass.

The European Pyrex branch stuck with borosilicate.
I’ve had most of my Pyrex for over twenty years. It’s incredibly durable. Unless you drop it from a height 😬 😂

So I guess you need to check which type of Pyrex/PYREX yours is 🤷‍♀️

Edit the weaker glass is called soda-lime glass.

This has something to do with the way they are being made.Something wrong goes on with that. Glad that I got some of the old stuff. Our mom was an avid fan of the old stuff. She prided herself with it. She had everything. I don't remember anything breaking. I remember the 6-qt casserole. She used it to make mac & cheese. I have one. Of course, I don't make that much mac & cheese, so I just use a small cassrole for it. :whistling:

True. I've bought brand new bialetti gaskets that do that.
I boil the water in a kettle then add - saves watching water boil 😅

Do tell. What material?

Did not know. Thanks for that

Its about home cookware. In the US Corning still makes PYREX labware but the company who bought the cookware company from them that makes Pyrex changed the formula as they wanted to make the products more affordable 😐 Get what you pay for
