What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy (2025)?

Did not know. Thanks for that

Its about home cookware. In the US Corning still makes PYREX labware but the company who bought the cookware company from them that makes Pyrex changed the formula as they wanted to make the products more affordable 😐 Get what you pay for

Corning explanation
I’m well aware hence my post 👍

But which type of Pyrex are people talking about? ‘Pyrex’ or ‘PYREX’
It’s two different companies.
After the company split the stuff made for America was no longer borosilicate and made from a much cheaper, weaker, less heat resistant type of glass.

The European Pyrex branch stuck with borosilicate.
I’ve had most of my Pyrex for over twenty years. It’s incredibly durable. Unless you drop it from a height 😬 😂

So I guess you need to check which type of Pyrex/PYREX yours is 🤷‍♀️

Edit the weaker glass is called soda-lime glass.
So which is the good stuff, ‘Pyrex’ or ‘PYREX’?

True. I've bought brand new bialetti gaskets that do that.
I boil the water in a kettle then add - saves watching water boil 😅
Yep, I boil in a kettle first as well, more efficient.

Do tell. What material?
A piece of thin no ink no glue cardboard from a food packaging container. Being paper it will swell when wet. Micrometer says it's 200/1000 of an inch thick.

I'm gonna forget about a sous vide. Even the so-called small containers with the controls are too big!! I'll just vacuum seal meats in the chamber vacuum sealer, let it thaw when taken from the freezer & cook it the normal way. Either in a skillet or in the oven, or both. Skillet then oven. That's MY way of doing a sous vide!! :whistling:

Thats not in anyway sous vide though 😂

I don’t have a container, just the wand which is fractionally bigger than a stick blender and a stock pot that I use for multiple things. The silicone lid will slide in nicely with my other silicone lids 😊

And now there's three...
I've got 5 slow cookers! I love them, especially when I am going to a gathering where I need to bring a hot dish and everyone is wanting to use the oven or stove. I make the dish at home and when I get there, I just plug mine in and I'm done. It's also a great way to make a long simmer tomato-based pasta sauce instead of hovering over the stove. Or making a stew or soup while I am at work and my husband is home alone. He just has to give it a stir every hour or so.

But if you don't have reliable electricity (I think I remember KK saying that in Venezuela they have random power outages) or are living off the grid like you and SNSSO, they are more important things to do with electricity than worry about whether your slow cooker is working.

Miscounted. I have 6 of them, LOL!

It seems like the wands won't work!! Unless you can tell me how to get around that, I'll do like I did years ago. I'm not spending money on another wand & have it refuse to work again!!!!!!! :ninja:

That is fine for you as long as you didn’t get carried out in a stretcher like she was. She couldn’t move, the police had to break down the door to get her out.
Just let go is my motto, enjoy life without getting too attached to material stuff.
I had to get in one downstairs & was taken to the hospital. After falling on my butt at a friend's house on the front steps,, he called an ambulence & I was taken to the hospital it was told by the paramedics that I fell & later on, they put me in a room full of alarms!!!!! I couldn't do anything without help!!!! They wouldn't let me!!!!!
