What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy (2025)?

I'm sorry, but once you have Pyrex or Corelle, you don't get rid of it! That stuff costs a fortune to try to get back! Number !, because it's not in production now. When were kids, it was plentiful & cheap. Especially the mixing bowls. :whistling:
My sister has no intention to cook. I don't want her stuff, my house is full. She’s also a hoarder, best to let others have her stuff, honestly. Her house is up to they eye ball with stuff, now I have to spend my weekend to clean them, i.e. getting rid of her stuff. I don’t care if they are not in production or not, I have never used them and I’m fine without them.
Even my kids don’t appreciate the Royal Doulton set we bought years ago for an arm and a leg in London.

As the old saying goes, it's better to have & don't need, than to need & don't have. But I must admit, I was a also a hoarder. I had to get rid of lots of stuff. I took the stuff over to a friend's house & put it in his basement. Some of the stuff that's used for cooking is upstairs.

I thought you had a slow cooker? I vaguely remember something about cooking things when busy in the day with University stuff. Maybe I'm confusing it with something else.

For information: A slow cooker is what we call a crockpot in the UK.
not me. I don't have one.

That is fine for you as long as you didn’t get carried out in a stretcher like she was. She couldn’t move, the police had to break down the door to get her out.
Just let go is my motto, enjoy life without getting too attached to material stuff.

We call it that also in the USA. Some stuff was called the name brand even if it wasn't. For instance, a fridge was called a Frigidaire & a food processor was called a Cuisinart even though it wasn't. And any slow cooker was called a crock pot, even if it wasn't. :whistling:

I was asked that by management. "What if you have to be carried out on a stretcher? How would we be able to get to you."

Too many people attached to material stuff thinking it's the endeavor to being here. Have to remind myself daily that not everyone has had the privelage of dying.
Not only that I saw a lot of books about Buddhism in her garage, bought brand new, probably never read even. I said to her to read some of these books sometime, Buddhism is about against attachment to material stuff. She was not too pleased with my comment.

Out of curiosity, I googled Pyrex mixing bowls, $18.99, not a fortune, not my definition of a fortune either.

You might be surprised, as some of the things are way up there in price. And that is not just stuff out of production, Even stuff in producton, like with Made In. I had a feeling that it was expensive, now I know for sure. It is way up there in price, & if I buy just one piece, I'm gonna want more & more, so I'll just stay away from it. Some things are well worth leaving alone, if you think it will cause a clutter.

Thank You for making me aware why some people are attached to these things. My daughter said Pyrex that was made years was very good, not lately. What I’m not sure if the Pyrex my sister bought is of good quality or not, maybe it wasn’t.
However, in my sister’s case, she doesn’t cook anymore, so it doesn’t matter if these stuff go up in price. She has Meals on wheels delivered to her M-F because she can’t drive.

You're right. Some things that were made years ago are not made the same way now! And that goes for just about everything. I can name probably thousands of things, but I won't. Too many. I was also getting Meals on Wheels. They were piling up in the fridge, making it look nasty & junky. After I came back from a trip South to visit the fam for Thanksgiving, I found out it had stopped, I did not reactivate it. I let it go. I cleaned the Fridge & didn't get any more. I went back to cooking now & then.

Hey, I think a lot of products like Pyrex aren't made with as high quality production standards now as back in the day. I'd recommend holding on to any older pieces in good condition.
